Pacific Coast Grill is one of a handful of restaurants from the top of Washington to the bottom of California that actually sits on the beach. Not across from it. On it! The ocean here isn't a view on the wall. It surrounds you. Sky and sea in every direction, salt in the air, and surf close enough to join in the laughter. No dashing through the snow to get here. Gather on the covered upper deck with the heaters going and the ocean wide open in front of you, take the lower deck nearer the water, or settle in behind the glass. Your coordinator will put your group in the space that suits it, dress the tables for the occasion, and keep the cocktails moving. For a few delicious hours, nobody is thinking about work. The View Has a Few SurprisesThe party starts before sunset. Pelicans skimming low over the water, dolphins playing in the swell, and from late fall into winter, gray whales spouting on their way south. On Cardiff Reef, surfers ride the waves as the light turns gold. Then the room turns toward the water and the sun drops into the Pacific. If the marine layer cooperates, there's the green flash. Somebody always calls it out. Candles get lit, the first plates arrive, and by the time dessert lands the stars are out. When the moon is up, it lays a silver line across the Pacific that runs straight back to your table. Around the holidays, the Cardiff Kook usually turns up in costume. We take no responsibility for what he's wearing. It all happens every night, always different, often magical.
